These applications will ask teachers how many students they hope to submit (including their instruments) and will indicate whether these students had auditioned for the Jazz Festival but were not selected. These students will have a priority opportunity to attend the festival if possible. There will be a limited number of rhythm section places, especially for percussion players. • An important component of AMIS’s middle school festivals is that students have the opportunity to work with guest conductors from AMIS member schools.  This acts as valuable professional development for the guest conductor and builds our international music education community through a sharing of ideas and approaches.  AMIS is now compiling a pool of applicants interested in leading a middle school festival. Here is the application procedure. Applications for the next season close 15 May, 2009. - posted 25 February, 2009
