Festiv al Information Eligibility
For the 2011-2012 academic year, AMIS is sponsoring two Junior Honor Orchestra Festivals.
For the 2012 festivals, the following rules will apply:
Schools in Asia are invited to apply for the Asian Junior Honor Orchestra.
Schools in Europe are invited to apply for the European Junior Honor Orchestra.
Schools in the Middle East and Africa must choose the festival in which they will participate.
String players in grades 6, 7, and 8 are eligible to attend this festival. Members are chosen by audition.Alternates as well as full members will be chosen for each instrumental group. Alternates would be expected to practice the music and would then be ready for a full orchestra place should one of the participants be unable to participate.
Audition Instructions
Orchestra members are chosen by competitive audition. All auditions must be received no later than October 25, 2011. Please see the complete audition instructions and audition materials linked from this page.Students are responsible for the complete learning of all repertoire and should not be submitted as candidates unless they are able to meet the demands of performing challenging literature with other outstanding students. They must be capable of concentrating during long rehearsals each day. Students must be well prepared so as to insure a positive experience. It is the responsibility of each teacher to be sure the students are prepared.
It is important that you are at the school by the end of school on Wednesday. It will be difficult for many families to meet guests other than at this time. Please keep this in mind when making your reservations. If you arrive before Wednesday you will need to organize hotel accommodation for yourself and your students until Wednesday. The housing with families will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Please avoid really late arrivals and early departures on Sunday. If you have no other choice, you will probably need to keep your students in a hotel on Saturday night, since we cannot ask host families to be up very early on Sunday morning.
Students from schools that are AMIS members as of November 1, 2011 pay "member" fees. Students from schools other than those that are not AMIS members as of November 1, 2011 pay "non-member" fees.
Teachers from AMIS member schools (as of November 1) pay "member" rates. Teachers who are individual members of AMIS also pay "member" rates. All others pay "non-member" rates.
Note:
Only students from AMIS member schools are
eligible to apply for financial aid.You can view all the fees, quoted in both Euros and Sterling, for all AMIS events by clicking on the link on this revised fees page. Schools must choose to be invoiced in either Euros or Sterling. It is possible to pay fees by cheque, transfer or by school credit card. Please contact Georgia Bassett at AMIS headquarters for details of credit card payment. You must be billed in sterling in order to use this facility.
Please note that registration and music fees for AMIS festivals are never refundable.Adult fees are payable for any participating teacher and official chaperones. These fees cover lunches, snacks, the directors' dinner, a dinner on the concert day, and transport during the actual festival, as well as all administrative fees.
Student registration fees cover lunches, snacks, dinner on the concert day and transport during the actual festival, as well as all administrative fees.
A music fee is charged for each student participant. Music will be purchased by AMIS and copies of each part will be posted on box.net for which participating teachers will receive a download invitation, to facilitate learning of the parts prior to the festival.

Hotel information for AMSHO Jakarta.
The Jakarta International School has booked hotel rooms at the nearby Hotel Kristal for adults coming to the festival. The school has a corporate rate agreement with the hotel which is considerably lower than their published rates.
ALL HOTEL REQUESTS HAVE TO GO THROUGH JIS, NOT DIRECTLY TO THE HOTEL. PLEASE BE SURE YOU HAVE PUT YOUR HOTEL NEEDS INTO THE AMIS DATABASE BY DECEMBER 1.
Unfortunately we do not have the exact corporate rate for 2012. I aill post the 2011 prices as a guide for your planning, but note that this list of prices will almost undoubtedly go up.
Each adult will need to pay by either credit card or cash on the day you check out of the hotel. You will pay the hotel directly on that day. Please do not ask about bank transfer for paying the hotel bill, because this is not a possibility for this festival.
