Honor Band Piccolo Callback Auditions Open

This is a callback for piccolo auditions for the 2010 Honor Band. Please send your auditions as mp3 files to the AMIS office. Closing date for this callback is December 15th.We have realized that four of the pieces for the Honor Band in Ankara have major piccolo parts. We did not have qualified piccolo auditions for this festival within the regular auditions. You may have a qualified student who worked on flute auditions and for some reason didn't submit them. Or you may have a good flutist who did not get into the band but is an excellent piccolo player. Or you may have a new student who didn't audition at all. If you have a good piccolo player, please submit the audition!

Vocal Jazz Ensemble Auditions - Callbacks

auditions were received from 4 schools. There had been a gray area about whether or not a vocal jazz ensemble could be offered, because we were unsure until this weekend whether or not a rehearsal room could be available for this group. Now that we know such a room can be made available, we are giving until June 1 for schools to submit any additional vocal auditions to AMIS headquarters, using the materials on the web site.

Clarification - Middle School Honor Band Auditions

There has been a change in audition requirements:All students (except percussionists – see below) are required to record three items:The appropriate chromatic scale with a metronome. Etude 9 Etude 10

Percussionists are to record all of the exercises on each sheet, regardless of numbering. There is no chromatic for mallets and none of the percussion exercises are to be recorded with a metronome. They must audition on at least two of the following instruments: mallets, timpani and snare drum. They may also audition on all three.

Students are not required to record all three in one take, but each item must be a complete play-through. Editing within a single item is strictly forbidden and will lead to the audition being disqualified.

Festival Fees for 2009-2010 Posted

During the 2008-2009 academic year, the exchange rate for sterling and Euros changed drastically as sterling lost considerable value. It is obvious some adjustment of AMIS fees for 2009-2010 is necessary. Euro rates have been held at the 2008-2009 rate. Sterling fees have been adjusted to reflect current exchange rates. At the end of each quarter, the relationship of sterling and Euro fees will be reviewed taking into consideration exchange rates in effect at that time.If necessary, fees will be adjusted to reflect major exchange rate shifts.
